Our team will provide information about innovative green construction methods and materials through a poster exhibition event. This event can inform the public and also the students about the opportunities to be green and environment-friendly in the built environment. The posters are created and presented by CM undergraduate students at LSU through their one semester of research efforts and practices under the supervision of Dr. Jafari.
LSU Undergraduate Research Week
Every year, LSU Discover hosts a campus-wide LSU Undergraduate Research Week. During this event, colleges, departments, programs, and student organizations at LSU host free events to display student research or allow students to learn about research and research opportunities at LSU.
Buildings, infrastructure, and the environment are inextricably linked. Energy, materials, water and land are all consumed in the construction and operation of buildings and infrastructure. Green construction aims to create a balance between what we seek to build and what our environment can ultimately support.
Green construction refers to both a structure and the application of processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from planning to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition. Green construction looks beyond the readily apparent aspects of the building to create a space that addresses the comfort, health, and broader environmental impacts of the construction process. Beyond the financial benefits, green construction helps the broader environment by consuming less energy and natural resources and reducing the waste and pollution created by the built environment.
