We are excited to share that SPICE Lab participated in Buildings for People 2026: Dialogue on Equity, Governance and Climate Resilience, held on October 5, 2026, at the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

At the symposium, Dr. Amir Jafari presented the research “Bridging Occupant Experience and Building Intelligence: A Social Robot Framework for Human-Centered Indoor Environmental Quality Assessment,” co-authored with PhD student Mina Nesarshamsabad. The research was presented through both a pitch presentation and a poster session. The study explores the use of social robots to bridge the gap between objective building data and occupants’ subjective experiences of indoor environmental quality. The proposed framework considers social robots as interactive mediators between occupants and building systems, supporting more human-centered, responsive, and intelligent built environments.

We are especially pleased that the poster received the Best Poster Award at the symposium. This recognition reflects Mina’s dedication and contributions to the project, as well as the continued efforts of our students to advance research at the intersection of human-building interaction, robotics, and intelligent built environments.

We sincerely thank Dr. Romina Rissetto, Symposium Chair, and the organizing committee for hosting an engaging and valuable event at ITBA. We also thank the poster award selection committee for recognizing our work.

Buildings for People 2026 provided a great opportunity to exchange ideas with researchers working on occupant behavior, human-centered buildings, climate resilience, building technologies, and human-building interaction.

Congratulations to Mina and the SPICE Lab team!
