We had the pleasure of attending the Construction Research Congress 2026 (CRC 2026), hosted by the American Society of Civil Engineers Construction Institute. CRC remains one of the premier venues for showcasing cutting-edge research and fostering collaboration in construction engineering and management.

This year’s congress provided an excellent platform to engage with researchers, industry professionals, and educators working at the intersection of construction, data-driven decision-making, and emerging technologies. The conversations around digital transformation, sustainability, and human-centered innovations were particularly inspiring and closely aligned with the work we are pursuing at the SPICE Lab.

A highlight of the conference was the presentation by my Ph.D. student, Mina, who shared our collaborative research titled: “Data-Driven Analysis of Energy Efficiency Measures (EEMs) for Energy Retrofitting in U.S. Residential Buildings,” co-authored by Dr. Sorena Vosoughkhsoravi. This work reflects our ongoing efforts to leverage data-driven approaches to improve energy performance and promote more sustainable built environments.

Beyond the technical sessions, CRC 2026 offered valuable opportunities for networking, exchanging ideas, and exploring future collaborations. It is always encouraging to see the strength and diversity of the construction research community and its commitment to addressing real-world challenges.

I am proud of my students’ contributions and grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an engaging and forward-thinking community.

Looking forward to continuing these conversations and building new collaborations.
