Organizing i3CE 2025: A Milestone in Advancing Computing in Civil Engineering

This May, we had the incredible honor of organizing the ASCE International Conference on Computing in Civil Engineering (i3CE 2025), hosted by the Bert S. Turner Department of Construction Management at Louisiana State University. With over 280 attendees from 12 countries, 237 peer-reviewed papers, and a dynamic mix of keynote talks, technical sessions, and interactive poster presentations, the event was a powerful reminder of the growing impact of computing in civil and construction engineering.
The i3CE conference has always been a hub for innovation. This year’s theme, “Future of Computing in the Evolving Era of Civil and Construction Engineering,” brought together researchers, practitioners, and students across disciplines. Our tracks covered cutting-edge topics, including:
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Digital Twins and BIM
Robotics and Automation
Human-Centered Innovations
Sustainable Infrastructure Systems
Organizing a conference of this scale was both challenging and rewarding. From abstract submission to publication coordination, from tech setup to hospitality logistics—every detail mattered. I had the privilege of working alongside my co-chair, Dr. Yimin Zhu, our department chair, Dr. Chuck Berryman, and an exceptional team of faculty, staff, and Ph.D. students who handled everything from technical review coordination to on-site logistics.
As the conference comes to a close, I’m filled with gratitude for the community we’ve built and inspired by what lies ahead. We hope i3CE 2025 served not just as a technical exchange, but as a catalyst for new collaborations and ideas.
