This spring, the SPICE Lab had the pleasure of hosting another very special group of visitors:kindergarten students from a local school, for an interactive day exploring the world of construction, robotics, and emerging technologies.
Although they were among the youngest visitors we’ve welcomed, their energy, curiosity, and excitement filled the lab. The goal of this outreach activity was simple yet meaningful: to introduce young learners to engineering concepts in a fun, engaging, and hands-on environment.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to:
Interact with robots and see how they move and respond
Experience virtual environments that simulate construction scenarios
Build simple structures and explore how things come together
What stood out the most was how naturally they connected with the technologies. Their questions, reactions, and creativity were a powerful reminder that curiosity starts early, and with the right exposure, it can grow into a lifelong interest in STEM fields.
These outreach activities are an important part of the SPICE Lab’s mission. They help show that construction is not only about tools and materials, but also about creativity, problem-solving, and shaping the world around us.
Moments like these truly reflect what it means to “plant the seeds” of future engineers, innovators, and thinkers.
