On Wednesday, December 3, the SPICE Lab hosted an engaging seminar titled “XR for Transformative Training” featuring Cody Louviere, Founder and CEO of King Crow Studios and an SBIR Phase I–III award-winning leader in VR-based safety and procedure training. The session brought together faculty, graduate students, and researchers interested in extended reality (XR) applications for workforce development and next-generation training environments

The seminar examined how immersive technologies are transforming skill development, safety training, and human–system interaction across various industry sectors. Cody Louviere shared insights from King Crow Studios’ extensive portfolio of XR training systems, highlighting real-world examples where immersive simulations increase training effectiveness, reduce risk, and support repeatable and scalable learning workflows. Attendees gained exposure to current challenges in industrial training, design considerations for high-fidelity simulations, and lessons learned from deploying XR solutions in operational environments. The seminar aligned closely with the SPICE Lab’s mission to advance intelligent, immersive, and human-centered technologies for construction and engineering.
